Father Benjamin Berinti
Fr. Ben Berinti is a member of the Missionaries of the Most Precious Blood religious congregation and currently ministers in the Diocese of Orlando, FL. as the new Director of Catholic Campus Ministry at the University of Central Florida. Before beginning ministry at UCF, Fr. Berinti served on the pastoral staff of the San Pedro Spiritual Development Center, and was Co-Director of the Commissioned Lay Ecclesial Ministry program. Fr. Ben is a former pastor of two diocesan parishes, Saint Andrew in Orlando and the Church of the Nativity in Longwood.Prior to moving to Florida, Fr. Berinti spent the first 11 years of his priesthood in ministry to higher education as a professor of religious studies and humanities, campus chaplain, and residence hall mentor, serving at St. Joseph’s College, Rensselaer, IN. and Saint Xavier University, Chicago, IL.
Fr. Berinti holds an undergraduate degree in English literature from St. Joseph’s, a Master of Divinity from Catholic Theological Union at Chicago, and a Doctorate in Ministry from Boston University School of Theology. Fr. Ben’s theological interests focus on sacraments, liturgy, the intersection of art and spirituality, and faith and culture. Fr. Ben is an Adjunct Professor with Loyola University New Orleans Institute for Ministry, and currently teaches an Introduction to Pastoral Theology course on-line.
In addition, Fr. Berinti serves as the Vice-Provincial of his religious congregation and chair of the Diocese of Orlando Priests’ Council.
Fr. Ben’s first book, a collection of spiritual essays entitled FIRESTARTERS: For the Seasons of Our Life was released in February 2011, and his second book, TUCKED IN THE ROCKS: Life Lessons from the Land of Enchantment, was published in September 2012. Fr. Ben is a contributing writer for the “Sunday Word” column for The Florida Catholic and hosts a weekly radio program on the diocesan station Buena Nueva 104.1 FM.
